I’m heartbroken. My dad, Doug Novak, unexpectedly died this past weekend. He never stood still; Dad was a doer. I see him going off to work, then coming home to read to me The Electric Radish and Other Jokes. I see him helping me with my paper route. Coaching a little league game and running the flag football league. Volunteering with St. Vincent de Paul. Getting us all to church, occasionally on time. Teaching me to shave, to drive, to tie a double Windsor knot. It’s not like he had spare time. My mom and dad raised seven kids, all college educated; four are graduates of Marquette University. Dad helped make my Marquette experience possible. He was always proud of me, and I will always miss him.
Thank you, Doug, for raising a son as remarkable as Mykl. We know you must have been very proud of him. We are too.
